Summer Reading Challenge
Imagine Your Story
July 1 through August 30
Kids of all ages can use their imaginations to explore, learn, create and connect through books, virtual programs and activities to earn points for a chance to win valuable prizes during this year's Summer Reading Challenge. This year's challenge may look a little different with our branches closed due to the pandemic, but we are committed to providing all kids the same opportunities to learn while having fun, and to keep minds active and prepared for the next school year.
Register and Play
There are two ways to play.
Play Online with Beanstack
This interactive game board that tracks your activity to earn badges for points and a chance to win prizes in weekly giveaways.
Complete a Paper Game Board
Summer Reading Challenge game boards are available through BCPS Schoology, or by curbside pickup at branches, in English (PDF) or Spanish (PDF). During the week of June 22, look for paper game boards inserted into many community newspapers, including:
- "Towson Times"
- "North County News"
- "Catonsville Times"
- "The Avenue"
- "The Dundalk Eagle"
- The June-July issue of "JMore" magazine
Prizes and Drawings
Any youth registered through Beanstack is eligible to win prizes through weekly drawings taking place each Monday, from July 6 through August 31, with three winners per age group (birth to 5, elementary-age and teens) for a total of nine winners each week. Winners must have a valid email address or phone number on file to choose a prize. All prizes mailed directly to the address provided.
There are five prizes to choose from:
- $50 Visa gift card
- Slime kit
- Nature-outdoor kit
- Creative art kit
- Baby-toddler toy
Only participants registered in Beanstack can be entered into weekly drawings, paper game board participants can't be entered. Beginning August 31, all readers that complete the Summer Reading Challenge by collecting 10 points can pick up a completion prize using curbside service in exchange for one of the following prizes (while supplies last): a book, a water-squirting unicorn or a spiral notebook.
