Library Open to the Public

Eighteen Baltimore County Public Library locations are open to the public and the library’s popular curbside service remain in place indefinitely. Extended loan fees are permanently waived.

Important Notes:

  • Reisterstown, currently under renovation, will remain closed for curbside service and in-branch browsing.
  • Pikesville will offer in-person browsing and walk-up curbside service.
  • Arbutus and Perry Hall will offer curbside service via the drive-up windows. 

Browsing Rules and Hours

All visitors are encouraged, but not required, to wear masks.

New public browsing hours will be:

  • Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Available Services

Services available will be:

  • Browsing and self-checkout of materials
  • Limited computer use (one hour per day)
  • Information and account management requests
  • Self-service printing, faxing and copying
  • Magazine rooms and access to newspapers
  • Library card registration and digital card conversions (for full access to the collection)
  • Storyville (Woodlawn and Rosedale branches will open on Monday, July 19)

While the library has been closed for public browsing since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, it has continued to offer services such as:

Future Reopening Phases

Library services and facility usage that will be reinstated in future reopening phases (dates to be determined), include:

  • Meeting room usage
  • Notary and passport services
  • Permits and licenses

“We are excited to reopen to the public and serve our community through in-person services. Safety has and will remain a top priority. I am proud of how quickly our team pivoted and adjusted to make the necessary changes during this unprecedented pandemic to provide our community safe access to the library,” said Baltimore County Public Library Director Sonia Alcántara-Antoine.
